Why We Like The Hightower Carbon C R Mountain Bike
We’re throwing the fun between our legs weekend after weekend, and looking forward to loading the Santa Cruz Hightower Carbon C R Mountain Bike up in the back of our pickups. The Hightower is built for high levels of fun, and with 150mm of forgiving rear travel it’s bound to get us out of a few hairy situations. The Hightower is supported with Santa Cruz’s own Virtual Pivot Point(VPP) suspension system, allowing for excellent tracking during high-speed situations and plenty of support on the climbs.
The Hightower is purpose-built for cruising down trail at high speeds with maximum commitment levels, and has a modern geometry to match. With a slacked-out 65-degree headtube angle paired with the large 29in wheels, we’re feeling confident rolling over big ‘ol obstacles out on the racecourse and in the mountains. The bike also includes a steep seat-angle, making it so we’re still reaching for it even during weekday pedal power rides. The Hightower is specced out with a mismatched Fox Float rear end and the RockShox Yari RC front end providing a supple and supportive ride over the gnarliest of terrain.
SRAM handles the drivetrain, braking, and wheel spec on this Hightower. Giving us a confidence-inspiring platform that includes 30mm internal wheels, which are properly wide to give us an ultra-supportive contact patch. Paired with those wheels are the 4-piston SRAM G2 brakes, these brakes have double the pistons for double the power over normal brakes. The SRAM Eagle drivetrain comes in a range of styles, allowing for easy-to-find replacement parts and upgrades. The DUB bottom bracket is SRAM’s attempt at creating ease in the BB department, meaning any DUB crankset will fit into this bike.
The Hightower has us getting our rigs high into the mountains with tons of confidence on the way down. We can’t wait for the weekend and loading it into the pickup with our buddies before a session down the mountain. We’ve riding happier tan ever with an economical but durable drivetrain underneath us along with an amazing suspension set-up for the price. We’re thankful for the Maxxis rubber that always hooks up, getting us down the mountain safely while we’re going faster than ever.
*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change.
