Why We Like The SB140 Turq TLR X01 Eagle Mountain Bike
Favored by the riders that make the bike the Yeti SB140 Turq TLR X01 Eagle Mountain Bike gets the Lunch Ride treatment for descending prowess. The main feature is the larger 160mm fork with the GRIP2 damper for all our downhill needs. The Yeti lunch rides are legendary and well known around the Yeti HQ in Colorado, luckily the TLR version of the bike means we get a taste too. This version of the SB lineup includes 140mm of rearward travel and enduro-rated parts all specced to a top-of-the-line frame layup. TURQ carbon on the yeti is reworked to shed grams and add a level of riding quality not seen with the turquoise frame ever before.
Designed from the ground up for trails that favor the descents over the climbs this version of the SB140 receives modern lower, slacker, longer geo found everywhere these days. The 140mm of rear suspension happily gets us through an enduro stage race on Saturday and a long ride with our friends on a Sunday morning. The LR version of the bike gets a further slacked-out 65-degree head-tube angle to get over obstacles while the 27.5in wheels have us playfully getting through chunder and obstacle-filled trail. The wheelbase on the SB140 is categorically long for a 140mm trail/enduro bike, with a medium getting 1208mm of high-speed stability-inducing ride characteristics.
Though the Lunch Ride version of the rig isn’t all that different from the standard rig, this bike gets burlier components to make getting down the hill that much more fun. The rear of the bike is built with custom DT Swiss hoops and more aggressive tires for wild riding. The handlebars also come in at an uncut 800mm, giving us more room to play with sizing while out on the trail. Larger disc rotors are also standard with the TLR and we use every bit of the 200mm front and 180mm rear rotor while slashing through thick terrain. SRAM’s Eagle drivetrain outfits the bike with the X01 components shedding weight while still being full enduro rated. Being a little heavier than the standard SB140, we use every cog and every bit of the 52t cassette thrown its way.
Equipped out of the box with a dropper, wide bars, and 4-piston hydraulic brakes the Yeti SB140 TLR means business. We’re not finding ourselves needing to change a thing about the ride, just our riding style to take full advantage of the geometry and playful 27.5in wheels. Maxxis rubber takes on rolling duties with a hyper-aggressive DHR in the front and fast-rolling Rekon in the rear. Both tires come tubeless right out of the box which means we don’t be needing to fuss with tubeless sealant and compressors before our very first ride. The SB140 is a fun-loving machine that knows how to get down the mountain when the time counts.
Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
